Performance and features

Both phones have the A20 Pro (6-core CPU, 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, 16-core Neural Engine) and Apple’s improved cooling for sustained performance. Both also support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, MagSafe and Qi2 charging at up to 25W, USB-C with USB 3 speeds, and IP68 water resistance. Apple’s next-generation Siri AI is included, but it launches in beta, in English first, and isn’t initially available in the EU.

• Both phones are eSIM-only. There’s no physical SIM tray, so check that your carrier supports eSIM before you buy, especially if you travel or switch SIMs often.
• Modems may differ by market. Reports say the Pro uses Apple’s C2 modem worldwide, while the US Pro Max keeps Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X80. Apple lists no performance difference, so it shouldn’t influence your choice.

Price and storage

One caution for the 1TB and 2TB models: independent testing found they use slower QLC flash, while the 256GB and 512GB models use TLC. Everyday use isn’t affected, but sustained heavy writes, such as long 4K ProRes recording or huge transfers, can be slower once the fast cache fills.
